We hope you will be joining us for a fabulous Whalefest 2026 — a vibrant, fun-filled weekend celebrating our ocean, wildlife, and community. Your time and energy help bring this special event to life, and we are so excited to have you be a part of it.

Volunteer shifts are available:
• Friday, April 10th
• Saturday, April 11th
• Sunday, April 12th

Whether you’re returning or joining us for the first time, we look forward to spending time with you and creating a memorable experience together.

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

Select Your Shift Carefully

  • Saturday shifts – April 11

  • Sunday shifts – April 12

  • You may sign up for one or multiple shifts

Volunteer Hours

  • 4-hour shifts include a lunch voucher

Be Prepared

  • Dress for the weather

  • Sunscreen & hats recommended

  • Stay hydrated

  • Bring a refillable water bottle

  • Water refill station available at the Surfrider Booth (Plaza)

Parking Lots & Locations

  • Marina front parking, 4 lots

  • Wharf #2 on pier

  • Heritage Harbor Parking Lot, on Pacific above the wharf

  • Portola Plaza Parking Garage, 1 lot

  • Parking garage across from the Sports Center, 2 lots

NOTE: Salmon Sport Fishing opening weekend is Saturday, April 11th. Parking will fill up fast early morning at Marina and Wharf parking lots.

NOTE: Parking lots are Paid Parking. Street parking is timed to 2 hours.

  • Volunteer Check-in booth at Monterey Old Fisherman’s Wharf.

  • 4 hour shifts

  • We strongly suggest you bring a water bottle. A water refill station will be available at the Surfrider Monterey booth.

  • Yes! Please be mindful of time away from the assigned area and that your position is covered.

  • All ages welcome. Middle School, High School, College or Military, Adults, and Retirees.

    15+ to volunteer unsupervised. Those under the age of 14 must have supervision.

  • 2 locations on Wharf. Mid-way down and at the end of Wharf on the left.

    • Marina front Lot, 3 lots

    • Wharf #2, on the pier

    • Heritage Harbor Parking Lot, on Pacific above the wharf.

    • Portola Plaza, walk right over to Custom House Plaza.  

    • Parking garage across from Sports Center.
